Comments and Reviews from users:

A Google user: “The app itself seems to have had some care in its creation, but unfortunately, at least for me, I noticed severe sensitivity issues when using the location. While this can be superseded by the hand motion, it doesn't excuse that a major aspect failed critically for me after multiple tries. I hadn't even been able to test the accuracy of the app due to this, let alone, enjoy it.” – 2/5 in Play Store

A Google user: “It would be a mediocre product if it could ever seem to calibrate its directions properly. I can be looking east and it'll think I'm looking south. I've had this issue for years across three phones, while other similar space apps work fine. ///// Another issue is that it does not include any guidance of what each of the on/off icons are for (though most are easy to figure out by toggling on/off if you have some basic astro skills, you should NEED to have those skills). ///// It's pretty, but it's a very bare bones app that lacks features you'd find in most other apps (even the free ones). It appears to lack all of the following: (1) Objects of immediate interest that are kind of a low-bar for apps like this, such as comets, asteroids, satellites, and space stations. (2) The ability to hone in on or filter explicitly for neat astronomical stuff like black holes, gamma ray bursts, pulsars, recent supernovas, etc. (3) The ability to track/forecast positions of objects, or to change dates/times. (4) The ability to tap on objects to get more information about the objects, its coordinates, etc. (5) Doesn't even include most of the stars you can see with the naked eye.” – 2/5 in Play Store

Pros Accurate star chart. Easy to use.
Cons Can be slow to load. Ads can be intrusive.

Comments and Reviews from users:

A Google user: “Great app, very detailed and love the customization. Works great, however, I can' seem to calibrate the compass and it is always incorrect making it hard for me to use as I have to manually position it myself. I have 2 other astronomy apps that are accurate with my position, but don't have the detail as this obe, they also let me calibrate the phone in case the compass is off. Either way that is the only downfall, other than the "rate this app" pop up that comes up quite frequently.” – 4/5 in Play Store

A Google user: “Too many ads. First attempt at using the app the overlay view was off quite a bit even after setting the phones compass. After several minutes of ATTEMPTING to mess with settings to adjust/offset the overlay I became so frustrated with the amount of ads every time I tap something I just gave up. It looks promising...but non functional at this point. Not willing to pay for if it is this far off and not worth the frustration of the ads to figure it out.” – 2/5 in Play Store

Comments and Reviews from users:

Lonnie Barnes: “Great app!!! Highly recommended! Beautiful displays of the constellations' graphic overlays of their classical images. I love the way you can navigate through the night sky by dragging the charts to see what will be coming up next. I do wish there was a way to turn on more of the classical image graphics grouped together, instead of just the one, two or three images visable at a time, to be able to see all of the interrelationships of the constellations to each other. Great learning tool. Thanks” – 5/5 in Play Store

Vespovich: “Really awesome app, one of the best on the store. My only issues are the occasional impurities in the photographs of the sky (I'm assuming they're reflections of the studio, equipment, etc.) and wish they would be edited out. That, and I wish there were more 3d models of major stars and deep sky objects. If those small things were fixed, this app would be perfect.” – 5/5 in Play Store

Comments and Reviews from users:

A Google user: “It's ok. It's not very accurate even after several times calibrating my compass. Everything is about 45° too far to the left. Once I find a planet with my naked eye (Mars for example), I can base everything else on that. But it drives me crazy that the horizon line is at a 30° angle even if I tilt the phone in either direction.” – 3/5 in Play Store

A Google user: “I first used this on a Samsung Galaxy s5. It seemed to work fine for a period of time. Then it went 180 degrees out of sync. I figured it was my phone and deleted it. I just got a new Galaxy s8...and it does the same thing. I tried the "figure 8" location set. Nothing. It seems there must/should be an inverse setting or something. It's useless on all unknown stars/galaxies. I really like the idea. Don't like the workings.” – 2/5 in Play Store

A Google user: “really love the app and all of its features. Especially the automatic cycling of images as wallpaper. But something happened and now no images cycle automatically. I am not sure what exactly is wrong with it but I suspect it to be my device (Galaxy S9). This was my favorite feature in the app and I definitely want to keep it that way.” – 4/5 in Play Store

A Google user: “I really like this app. There is this new feature that i like, if you go under the images section. An click on one of the images, there's a little heart button to save that image. So if you back out of that image, the heart button is in the same area. An when you click it, it takes you to all the images you saved. When i try to go back to the images i saved, it takes me to a blank screen. Which sucks because i lost a lot of pictures that i liked, an now their hard to find. Please fix this.” – 4/5 in Play Store

A Google user: “My favorite astronomy app, after trying 5-6 others. I like being able to toggle the compass. Descriptions are very informative. I like that you can set it to notify you of events (like satellites/planets rising). My only issue is that, although I've disabled sound for notifications via Android 8.0, notifications still have a sound. I'd rather be able to set it to vibrate or just silent, but still have a notification icon. Other than that, no issues and super useful!” – 5/5 in Play Store

A Google user: “Crisp, colorful, (very) user-friendly guide to the night sky ... Even below the horizon. Super-Cool App!!! 😊 The Cosmic Collection, a $3.99 add-on provides really cool graphics, especially of the planets, and galactic perspective for stars. Its features are available when you select a celestial object, in an expanded drop-down menu.” – 5/5 in Play Store

Comments and Reviews from users:

bluearth64: “I LOVE this app so much! I've used Star Walk 2 for over 6 years, and this app is amazing I love the cloud cover, light pollution, and the custom reminders! Premium access is so inexpensive compared to similar apps (I paid as soon as I got this app.), and the only weird thing I found is the daylight savings time transition, but that has nothing to do with the amazing quality! I am so excited to see what you will add in future updates!!!” – 5/5 in Play Store

Terry Naber: “Too expensive! Pain in the butt to unsubscribe it from my credit card. I went to uninstall it and received the message that the paid subscription would still be charged even if it was uninstalled! But it does have nice drawings of the various constellations. It's difficult to know where you are looking unless you are very experienced with the various planets and stars.” – 2/5 in Play Store

Comments and Reviews from users:

A Google user: “It's OK. Coming from Sky Guide this app has way less deep sky objects but it's still pretty good. For some reason you can't select or search for the (Large Magellanic Cloud) which is very strange as you can search for the Small Magellanic Cloud. Also a lot of the deep sky objects are poorly pasted into the app. Please make it look like it's actually supposed to be there instead of taking a screenshot and pasting into the app. (That Small Magellanic Cloud picture is horrible. Please use a better one) Last thing, I hate how when you zoom into a deep sky object and when you unselect it the whole object the whole thing magically disappears. Why? This app is only good if you want quick information on it. Don't expect to spend more then 10 minutes on it. Adrian” – 3/5 in Play Store

A Google user: “Really cool app that does not accurately track location & direction. I have calibrated it tons of times and it is still a good bit off from where the stars and planets actually are, which kind of defeats the purpose... UPDATE: They updated the app and the tracking is much, much better. Still not perfect, but the fact that the devs are nice enough to respond to my issue and help with an update make we give them 5 stars regardless. Thanks for the customer service.” – 5/5 in Play Store

Cons Requires a clear view of the night sky, may not work well in all weather conditions.

Comments and Reviews from users:

A Google user: “I've used this app for a long time and liked it but sadly, I came across another. At first it was innocent, a quick scan through the settings, checking out the features but then it just got out of hand, next thing I know I'm using it instead of this to gaze into the cosmos I started utilizing the upgraded features and I was enjoying it. I'm sorry it turned out this way but things happen sometimes, we had fun, good memories so lets leave them to the fate of the galaxy and hold on to the memorie” – 5/5 in Play Store

A Google user: “I have played with about a dozen of similar apps, liking SkyView and Stellarium the most and finding all the others notably less desirable. The most important criteria for me has been how easy it is to match up the displayed stars with reality and how hard it is on the eyes to switch back and forth. Suggestions for improvements: * Make the constellation art more dimmed (or dimmable) so that it does not overpower the other displayed information. * Similarly, make the thickness of the constellation lines configurable. * Implement a quick-switch display menu, like in Stellarium or Sky Map, so that users do not have to go through multiple clicks to switch on/off constellation lines, art, trajectories, satellites, etc. Ideally a single click from a slide-out menu should do. * Allow the display to to adjust when holding the phone horizontally. Currently the the identified star/constellation name is fixed on the bottom of the display (when held vertically). When the phone is rotated, the name stays in the same location, where it gets obstructed by the hand holding the phone, and the text direction becomes now vertical.” – 5/5 in Play Store

Mc Levy: “The program insists on having access to all my files and data, but doesn't access global positioning. Therefore we need to know what we're looking at to know what we're aiming at. Also when you press on the star or constellation it gives no data.” – 2/5 in Play Store

Michael Keith: “This is a great app. User interface is easy to navigate. The only thing I don't like is that there's no account to log into. Everytime you install this app you have to manually put in the addresses for all of the stars you had before. If you no longer have access to those addresses you are never going to get them back. I work in construction and I break phones all the time. So this becomes a real hassle.. Otherwise, great app!!” – 5/5 in Play Store

A Google user: “Amazing app. It has all I was looking for and more than that. Moon calendar, planet positions, meteor showers among others. Very useful and versatile app. 5000 stars 🌌 Maybe the west-east directions could be flipped, that would match the sky as we observe it from underneath. In the latest update they actually included an option to flip W-E directions. Awesome!” – 5/5 in Play Store

A Google user: “Amazing!! Perfect for the amateur astronomer. Has planetary positions by the hour, you can change the time of the sky that's displayed, news, events. Couldn't ask for a better app!! The zoom is weird though with the night sky. Other than that, perfect app!” – 5/5 in Play Store

Rishika Simran: “Awesome app picture learning style is very good but I was learning constellation and after learning all easy level app told me to pay 250 rs for learning medium and hard one so I get some knowledge but not everything because I don't want to pay for it but there were no ads in it” – 4/5 in Play Store

Alex Barry: “Awesome app, but for "medium" difficulty, when switching to a new constellation, could you make the constellation lines disappear immediately? Currently they animate away slowly enough that I can often see them somewhat as the camera is approaching, and it makes it easy to tell what the constellation is. I've tended to cover the screen with my hand for a few seconds so I don't cheat by seeing the lines as they disappear.” – 5/5 in Play Store
