Comments and Reviews from users:

nicole rodriguez: “I'm forced to use this because my parents refuse to use any other messaging app, but the recent updates just suck. I hate the fact the AI cannot be removed, even if it's completely useless to the user (genuinely, why would I need it??). Channels are also somewhat forced down our throats, but I'm not sure if you could just remove it. Messages fail to send or notify the other person and video quality seems to look worse or they don't even play. Voice/Video calls are fine though.” – 3/5 in Play Store

Bright Kegbe: “This has been a great app, best messaging app by a distance. The recent changes are great. But it can be improved upon. With people having so many groups these days, *groups chats need to be separated from individuals*. There should be option to change the default display menu colours and outlook. In short more customization option should be integrated.” – 4/5 in Play Store

Comments and Reviews from users:

ReconPuffen: “Very small send limit with videos (like only 2 seconds and it's buggy) texts take a few seconds to send. Doesn't matter what strength wifi or signal. I try not to use this app whenever possible. EDIT: Got the review, cleared cache data. The trim button is no longer working at all and the video limit is still extremely, unusably small. I can send multiminute long videos is a few seconds on SnapChat.” – 2/5 in Play Store

Allen: “Update: 6/9/24 This app has been acting strangely in terms of notification sounds. The notification only sounds when the app is displayed on screen. If on home screen there is no sound. I have tried everything but can't stop this intermittent behavior. 2nd Edit: We did as you suggested. I think that fixed it. Thank you for your input. Will let you know if there are any further issues.” – 5/5 in Play Store

Comments and Reviews from users:

Starlit: “After 10 years of use, this latest Skype mobile update caused my Android microphone to not work in the app any longer. The other party cannot hear me. I tried everything to fix it, to no avail. What's more, there is no way to change it in the Settings menu. Not sure what happened, but will have to use Zoom from now on. It was a great run, Skype. I'll miss this app.” – 2/5 in Play Store

Leonardo Gonzalez: “You guys keep making unnecessary changes, I used to be able to take multiple photos no problem, now its a whole extra step of having to back out, and press the icon again, why the regression? Also, I'm using a Samsung zfold3, the camera function used in the app for some reason isn't accurate. On the display I can have a photo perfect in frame but after the photo the shot is is taking a larger frame, making it badly taken since it's capturing more of the environment then I want.” – 3/5 in Play Store

Cons May not have as many features as some other messaging apps, and privacy concerns have been raised in the past.

Comments and Reviews from users:

First Last: “Weird stoppage of video and or sound lately, on both WiFi and cell data connections. Opposite party also uses Telegram, similar problems on their phone. Fails to connect my speaker in my phone half the time, but shows speaker phone mode. Recently having trouble with a known Bluetooth mic/speaker box. What gives? This wasn't happening at all, a few months ago, my phone hasn't been updated. Only since the latest Telegram app.” – 3/5 in Play Store

Gordon Freeman: “would really prefer tap 9nce on mic to send voice message rather than holding... needs to be an option.. there no reason a separate small icon can be added for video instead of tapping the mic once to switch.. sometimes you don't want to be tethered to the phone to record audio, say you're playing a quick guitar riff.. all other voice messaging apps have a tap to talk mic option, this should be a standard function.” – 3/5 in Play Store

Pros Easy to use interface, remote control functionality, integration with other Google services
Cons Limited customization options, occasional connectivity issues, requires a Google account

Comments and Reviews from users:

Brandt Absolu: “Like everything else from Google in the past decade, they've taken a good thing and made it a finicky, glitchy, hot mess. Creating a speaker group and adding/removing devices from it at will used to be so easy, now it's a mission just to get it to recognize a Chromecast that's already linked to my account. Speaker groups disappear randomly, deleted items reappear, communication doesn't always work, and the list goes on.” – 2/5 in Play Store

L O: “sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. when it does work it is very helpful and convenient. This is what happens: While in the Home App, I have my Smart Outlets to turn Lamp lights on/off and setup with a timer. The one outlet set with a timer I cannot control at all; it will turn on or off as scheduled (good thing) or sometimes randomly turn on and off not following schedule (not good). Always indicates "Off" though. I usually use the App to turn lights on or off; Icon always show off.” – 3/5 in Play Store

Comments and Reviews from users:

Christopher Hancock: “Touch alignment is incorrect in far corners of the app. Bug where pictures preview will be too large and is cut off by the edge of the screen. And you have to force close the app to get it to show to the correct scale. Current version the emoji/reaction selection is cut off by the edge of the screen. Discord has a pop up asking me to review it. Google enabled this feature 4 years ago but I haven't seen it until now. So bad call discord. Being the first one to try this gets a star taken off.” – 2/5 in Play Store

Eve: “Recently has been awful. Lagging, crashing, I can't even watch a stream for more than 5 minutes before it freezes. Loved the app at first, but the way it's running now is just insane compared to other social media apps. Please quit being lazy and make an independent app built FOR ANDROID!! I'm not saying remove features on pc, just migrate them over. It'll take longer sure but if you really cared about your user base then you'd make it work. I'm just sick and tired of how it's been performing.” – 2/5 in Play Store

Cons Can be slow at times, and some features are only available with a paid subscription.

Comments and Reviews from users:

Eugene Chung: “Great for cross communication and team collaboration on documents. However, a s with many MS products, it can be heavy and buggy. It's not so intuitive to figure out on your own. Also very annoying that it defaults to opening MS documents in the Teams/Sharepoint app instead of the desktop application. There is an option to fix it, but did I mention that it is not intuitive?.....” – 4/5 in Play Store

Nick Thompson: “Bug that they never seem to fix: When adding phone as "Add this device" (2nd device connected to same meeting), then the auto-rotate function doesn't work any more; shared material will not rotate to landscape mode. This differs from normal behavior to rotate incoming presentation to landscape when phone is rotated. But this function doesn't work when added as 2nd device in the meeting.” – 2/5 in Play Store

A Google user: “I like we chat for the most part but a couple things bother me. Chats are limited to a minute before you're cut off and the print is so light on the time that it's hard to see when messages come in. Sound quality of messages is very good. Having some problems with WECHAT that I didn't have before. I used to see something on my screen that let me know I had a new message. That dissapeared and now I have no notification sounds.” – 3/5 in Play Store

A Google user: “WeChat is great for texting and has an incredible range of cute, free stickers. However, after less than a week, I've been locked out of my account twice for "suspicious activity" and need a friend to help me log back in through some convoluted process. Their help center says if you use Project Fi, then they recommend using a different phone number to connect... Unfortunately, this is also the only phone number I have. I like the app, but the login process really ruins the experience.” – 3/5 in Play Store

Pros Easy to use, Free to use, Works on multiple devices
Cons Can be battery draining, Not as reliable as a real walkie talkie

Comments and Reviews from users:

A Google user: “I have the BlackBerry KEYOne and this app receives and sends very quickly. I love the concept. However, this app constantly goes on Busy status, claiming my phone is on silent when it's on vibrate. You have to manually change your status. I would love a fix and, I would love to have the ability to have status change back to available (or whatever it was) before setting your phone to silent.” – 3/5 in Play Store

A Google user: “It's good, but that would be cool if there was a button where when you're outside the app you can press and send the message to the person you were talking to. Another nice feature would be having the voices not over lap or interrupt each other if you are talking to one person separately then your other friend's voice comes in lol. Also, is there a way to have history saved temporarily? Like delete the data used after one or two days so I can still save it but not use my memory if I forget.” – 4/5 in Play Store

Cons Limited features compared to regular Messenger, requires parental approval for contacts.

Comments and Reviews from users:

Dekaney “Tune” Johnson: “This app is amazing and it's fun! Easy for kids to communicate with friends and family. The reason with the 4 stars is sleep mode, when I'm in a video call with my friends it auto hangs up which is annoying. And when messenger re-enables in the morning at 8:00 am it won't let me send messages because of the sleep mode, and so I have to wait until 9:00 am for it to calibrate properly. Get rid of the sleep mode plz! Could've given it 5 stars if it didn't have a sleep mode.” – 4/5 in Play Store

Julian Grise: “This is a great resource. However, it disconnects and glitches all the time. Here are some ways I've found to fix the issue of texts not sending or calls not connecting: 1: Try turning off wifi and closing down the app, then turn wifi back on and open the app. 2: Try calling the person your texts are not sending to or your calls are not connecting to. Stop the call almost right after you start it. If you still can't connect, it may be the other person's connection.” – 3/5 in Play Store

Comments and Reviews from users:

A Google user: “I use this app heavily. Have been for years. I even pay for the pro version. However, it's definitely not without its flaws. For example, this app still won't work in landscape mode. For some reason the developer refuses to address this. Another issue which happened more recently is photos will not expand to full screen when I tap on them within a chat. All I get is a dark screen. So I am stuck looking at thumbnails of photos that people send to me. And yes I have tried clearing cache, clearing storage, and then completely reinstalling. Still can't view photos in full screen mode. Finally, just like others have reported, the message counter is often inaccurate. It often indicates that I have unread or unheard messages in a particular chat. However all the messages are heard. What I have found is the only way to clear that is to clear the cache and then restart the app. This behavior has been going on since I first started using Voxer many years ago and they never have seemed to figure out how to make that counter work correctly. I would be less inclined to be annoyed by these flaws if I were using a free app. But I'm not; I'm paying for Voxer Pro.” – 3/5 in Play Store

A Google user: “Update: December 3rd 2018. Ever since the latest "bug fixes" have been in place I've been having nothing but trouble again. Other people that use the app along with me have been experiencing the same issues where messages either will not play at all or will only partially play. Lately Voxer is getting pointless as it is becoming unusable. I run a S7, a friend runs a brand new Motorola, and another runs a crApple of some sort. Between us, we have had nothing but issues so it cant be an issue with the phones. Half the time only a portion of the message will come through. Messages will suddenly appear a few days after being sent, or it says the message was sent but never was. We have tried on and off Wi-Fi, restarted the phone, restarted the app, deleted and reinstalled the app, as previously stated one even got a new phone. Nothing seems to work. I sent a message in 2015 and you said you'd be working on the bugs. I've seen others are having the same issue with the same reply, you are working on it. It takes three years to work on it?” – 2/5 in Play Store

Pros Free, easy to use, wide variety of feeds available.
Cons Some feeds may be unavailable or unreliable, interface can be cluttered, ads can be intrusive.

Comments and Reviews from users:

A Google user: “Annoying since you added the ads in it. This app used to be the best scanner. But now you guys put ads in it. The ads would be fine if they didn't interrupt while listening! And the fact that you're forced to watch them for a specific amount of time is even more annoying! If you had the ads play when first opening the app then itd be fine. Or when first clicking a station, and when exiting that station. But they pop up in the middle of listening and that's an annoying as hell interruption!” – 3/5 in Play Store

Scott Meiier: “Good app when it works. Would like the ability to run 2 or more jurisdictions at the same time. I regularly travel across neighboring counties and have to switch channels. Also, the app seems to be stopped too easily and won't always return after any other phone use , but that may be an issue with my phone. Some of the new full screen ads don't let me go to the feed after they run, and make closing them difficult. I have to close and reopen the app and run a different ad in order to continue.” – 3/5 in Play Store

Cons May use a lot of data, can be difficult to use in noisy environments, limited features compared to other communication apps.

Comments and Reviews from users:

A Google user: “This app is absolutely amazing! I've met people from Thailand, Russia, South Africa, India and many other places. It's very simple use. I like that you can join and disconnect at any times. The ads aren't too bad either. There are a few flaws. One being the app disconnects the calls frequently. Second, you cannot make an account of sorts to friend people. Similarly you cannot block certain people. Thirdly, the lobbies have a max amount of people which is very annoying. I see a lot of potential!” – 4/5 in Play Store

Amakie: “It's an amazing app, and I love the interface. However it's really annoying how I'll be on a channel with people and then get kicked out cause the max number of users on the channel has been reached, especially if I am one of the first people on it. Please fix this for me cause it is really frustrating but other than that, the app doesn't disappoint” – 4/5 in Play Store

Pros Entertaining, educational, and can assist with language learning.
Cons Responses can sometimes be repetitive or nonsensical, characters may not always understand complex queries, and there is a risk of addiction.

Comments and Reviews from users:

Nigma Quikxilva: “This can be a great app, but I feel like y'all doing too much, every time something changes, and instead of adding features to make it better, you take away features and make it worst and more dull the experience as a whole. (I'll give you a few ideas of improvements, like 1.giving us the ability to edit the ai when it comes almost great but not perfect, 2.unlimited word characters in the prompts of high fidelity, 3.an uncensored version to see the sensitive content even if it have to be paid.” – 4/5 in Play Store

Braylin wilson: “Talkie, I can say, is a next level AI. It is fun with a lot of characters from different shows and movies. I also like how u can make ur own. Buttt there are some things that I don't like. I don't like how sometimes the AI changes the story on how u don't like it, or it doesn't make sense anymore. Also, I don't like how now there are time limits, I would like to enjoy talking with new AI's without timers. We can keep the ads just no time limits. Also, the changing story needs fixing.” – 3/5 in Play Store

Comments and Reviews from users:

Brianna Kumordzi: “I was able to log in with my Google account and set it up. I've added friends but when I hold the button in to talk it says connecting but it never does. My sister and i downloaded it at the same time and she doesn't have that problem, her app works like it's supposed to. I don't know if this is a bug or just a sign that this doesn't work on my phone” – 2/5 in Play Store

Stefan Iacob: “I added my friend and i can see him online, I can wave at him but when I try to talk to him it's stuck on connecting. When whole point of the app is that it's like a walkie talkie. Well it doesn't work. Edit: I logged out and logged back in and it fixed the issue.” – 4/5 in Play Store

A Google user: “This app works great! Bought the Pro version within minutes. It works exactly as advertised. Easy to set up and has a local history in case you need to revisit what someone said. I'd like to ask the dev to consider adding an option to lock the screen orientation to a user-specified portrait or landscape, in addition to the current "system." Thanks! Stock S9+, Oreo.” – 5/5 in Play Store

A Google user: “I have tried many of these walkie talkie apps and found most to be lacking in the ease of use and quality departments. But finally I found the one that works for me and everybody else in circle of family and friends. Slide2Talk is the one that I like and everybody else does to. I totally recommend it for anyone who wants to keep in touch with just touch of an icon. Simple and clean design.” – 5/5 in Play Store
