Comments and Reviews from users:

A Google user: “Great app. Went from almost never reading. To reading a hundred or so books per year. Very nice for hunting, because believe it or not, turning the pages of a book is very loud out in the ol' deer woods. The app is a little clunky sometimes. And a more accessible on/off switch for the night light function would be nice. Over all, a fantastic app for reading.” – 4/5 in Play Store

Nick Tustin: “Nice app, but missing a critical feature that would really push it over the edge for nonfiction readers, the ability to search for keywords within only the text they've highlighted. There's a section for user highlights called 'Notes' which is sometimes helpful to quickly refer to an important highlight of a book I remember reading, but when the book is long and the highlights are many, it becomes laborious to scroll through by eye, and sometimes I resort to keyword searching the whole book.” – 4/5 in Play Store

Cons Some books may not be available for all devices, may need to purchase a subscription for some content

Comments and Reviews from users:

Nym: “Edit: Disappointed by the new version of the app that takes control of my screen's brightness. No way to disable this feature. I have a perfectly convenient way to alter my brightness from my core phone drop down menu. I don't need an app adding secondary controls I have to hunt for in inconvenient locations. I don't want adaptive brightness, I micromanage mine, and this is incredibly frustrating, turning an otherwise great app, sour.” – 3/5 in Play Store

Mutt Fitness: “This app is mostly pretty good but it has some problems. If you leave the app open too long in the background, then the progress bar disappears and you have to restart the app. Also, translations are a real mixed bag. Many languages can't have one way dictionaries to English, like Italian or Norwegian. Also, the translate that uses bing often chooses the wrong language or doesn't translate at all.” – 3/5 in Play Store

Comments and Reviews from users:

Sarah Wiltsee: “I would like to be able to get the information: overview of book I am currently listening to Reason; Often it has been some time since I started and stopped and need to know what the plot or refresh my memory. 2. Being able to ask Alexa to go back a few pages or repeat something I didn't understand Reason. Sometimes the reader lowers their voice or you need them to hear it again. Reason I am older and can't read because of vision, and as a avid reader all my life I miss my Books. Others have” – 4/5 in Play Store

Benjamin Swanson: “Several issues upfront. Poor user interface, specifically the automatic downloading of seemingly random titles from the library that has to be turned off manually in the settings. In addition, the policy of only allowing one pause per 12 month billing cycle is ridiculous and encourages me to find outer sources for audio books. The podcast searching and use function is operational, but not much more. That all being said, Audible has a good Library and good sourcing of books and podcasts.” – 3/5 in Play Store

Comments and Reviews from users:

Anthony Fusc: “Don't waste your time. The app is great for the first bit. After being able to listen to several episodes for free, it drops to one episode and then none. The first batch of tokens is super cheap if, but when you buy more (and you will need to, trust me) it's stupid expensive for how many you get compared to what you need to listen to episodes. The number of tokens needed isn't standard and fluctuates. There are cheaper and more well known options that beat this easily. You've been warned.” – 2/5 in Play Store

David King: “They change readers in middle of a story for the worse, and unless you force close it, a change in Bluetooth status can activate it, and burn through your coins with a random story you never wanted to listen to..... and can't be refunded. There are a couple of interesting stories I've kept listening to despite the consistent inability to correctly pronounce certain words. Sometimes it seems like it's some sort of advanced text to speech reader and not a real person reading...” – 2/5 in Play Store

Sunaina Kashyap: “The stories, audio, ideas and etc. everything is perfect for me for now but... The reason why I gave it 2 stars is because it irritates me when I can't see their reaction, the screen turns fully black when I am watching and listening to it. I recommend you to please fix this it's very irritating. Edit : This issue is fixed, thank you for fixing it and other than that it's a perfect app for me now. Again, Thanks. Edit 2 : It's giving me the same problem again & could you please removecoins-unlock” – 3/5 in Play Store

Naisini Ariram: “The app was really good and easy to listen stories. Wonderful app. One thing which we need to be included is, when we complete one book, it can encourage listeners that we have completed one book and it can say congratulations. The completed book can be included in completed list in our profile. So we can analyse ourself that how much we have spent our time in listening good books. It will motivate us further. Cons Some books and audiobooks are not available in the subscription, limited offline access.

Comments and Reviews from users:

Tiffany Connors: “I love the price and the selection is good, however most books I've been wanting to read/listen to lately are "available soon." Still better than audible in the value sense, however lately I've had problems with the app crashing randomly in the middle of listening to my audiobook. I just started a book 15 min ago and it's already stopped playing 3 times. Each time I have to go get my phone and open the app back up.” – 4/5 in Play Store

James van Scoyoc: “Great app; works a lot better than it did the last time I reviewed it. The one improvement I'd really like to see is the ability to move the app and data to external storage. ETA I'm very disappointed in the fact that if you read or listen to multiple items, you can reach a limit at which the algorithm takes away earlier titles you still haven't finished. Some warming would have been nice. PENALTY ONE STAR.” – 3/5 in Play Store

Pros Massive library, offline listening, sleep timer.
Cons Some books may not be available in all regions, subscription required for full access.

Comments and Reviews from users:

A Google user: “I'm really happy with the app, and think that subscription is a good investment. I'd only add a table of contents so listeners could find chapters and concepts easily. Other features could be customize the lapses of time a listener could go back or forward on the book, as of now, you can only do this on 15 seconds jumps. Maybe in the future the possibility to have transcripts in the audio books or the option to do searches by words inside a book. Apart from that, I really recommend it.” – 4/5 in Play Store

Shaima Essa: “It has a wide variety of Arabic books, however recently I've been encountering some bugs which 8s really very annoying. I've been using اقرألي more than a year and I haven't face anything like this. I like Storytel interface and it's easy to use, but I think if thes bugs continues, I'll have to end my subscription. Shame on you, fix it and keep your customers.” – 2/5 in Play Store

Pros Offers a wide selection of eBooks and audiobooks, user-friendly interface, and customizable reading experience.
Cons May occasionally experience syncing issues, limited availability of certain titles compared to other platforms.

Comments and Reviews from users:

Michele Fee: “This app isn't bad. It could, however, fix a couple things that are bugging me. 1) The audiobooks randomly skip ahead a couple chapters when you close out of them and get back in. It is so frustrating to have to find your spot in the book when you only just turned it off for a couple minutes and you're wanting to get back into the story. 2) I wish the audiobooks and books synced together. I've checked out both a couple times to switch back and forth and it would help to have them sync together.” – 3/5 in Play Store

Jose: “Kobo has a good library and the eReaders are great, however the app is not a highlight. Room for lots of improvementa, the app is not intuitive, searching for books is a frustrating experience, recommendations are off. One would like to see a well design homepage where to sort new books, recommended ones, trending, categories, ratings, top rated, etc, etc. You need to invest in UX experts...” – 2/5 in Play Store

Pros Improve your knowledge, save time, and achieve your goals with Blinkist's vast library and engaging format.
Cons Some users may find the summaries lack depth compared to reading the full books, and the subscription model can be a limiting factor for those who prefer one-time purchases.

Comments and Reviews from users:

Jane Lee-Laurent: “There's a typo in your intro. "..you discover our our Blinks,..." The word "our" is twice. Hire me! I'm a UX designer 🤪 Also, I wish there was an option to add my own notes as I'm highlighting. That would be WONDERFUL. Also, if you can add 3 whole seconds of pause or soft music as the blinks are transitioning, it will allow listeners to digest what was being said.” – 5/5 in Play Store

Shyla Mani: “W/this app, I get the main ideas from many books in a shorter amount of time than reading/listening to the full book. I like that I have the option to read &/or listen to the Blinks. There is other helpful content from professionals in various fields too. From a technical perspective, I have had issues with casting from my Android phone to my Google Assistant. The Blinks start off playing well but then they randomly stop casting and return to playing on my phone.” – 4/5 in Play Store

Stephanie Daniel: “Honestly there is nothing wrong with this app! In the many years I've been using it, I've had very few issues, and the couple of issues I have had were immediately addressed when I reached out to support. No other audiobook app is as integrated with public libraries as Libby, and the option to load multiple library cards into your profile opens up a truly massive amount of content. I would love to see a new Start from the Beginning option in audiobooks, for those of us who reread.” – 5/5 in Play Store

jim stred: “Great functionality. I signed up with my library and have access to seven other libraries with my one card. If there's a wait list at one library, oftentimes it's available at another. I listen to a lot of audio books, and you can adjust the speed of the recording. I set my speed at 1.25. Still sounds great, and adds a little urgency and extra excitement to the dialog. You can download and listen offline, and auto return means no late fees. Love it!” – 5/5 in Play Store

Fonts don't change, paragraphs don't change, adding annotation notes don't delete. I'm not sure if there is an app on the market that doesn't appear to be in development. I hope you can fix these problems, as I was hoping this would be the app to use. thanks” – 3/5 in Play Store

Michael Powe: “Auto scans on startup after installation. This sucks up all kinds of unwanted documents. It should ask first. Doesn't auto scan the SD card. No way to force a scan to manually add new books. It did install itself to the SD card, which is a plus. Update: current version much better. Feature set is excellent. Caveats. Doesn't roll up multiple .m4b files into a single book. Pop-up action menu is opaque. Categories for all & audiobooks, but not for ebooks. Bookmarks hard to manage. Overall, good.” – 4/5 in Play Store

Cons Limited selection of free audiobooks, subscription required for full access, occasional technical glitches.

Comments and Reviews from users:

Joshua McKnight: “Free Trial I like the model and the selection is great. I've been able to find everything I want. I am not a fan of how they don't show you the difference between free and paid until you try to acquire the book. Sometimes titles are listed as free and sometimes they are listed by genre when viewing search results. Cost should either be always visible or a filter option so you don't need to open every audiobook when looking for something free.” – 3/5 in Play Store

A B: “Good selection of audiobooks, both free and for a charge. The app is easy to navigate and works well. No complaints about sound quality or ease of use. My one complaint is about how it works with Android Auto. When using through Android Auto, it says I only have 2 audiobooks available, and they won't be the ones I want or am currently listening to. That's a huge shortcoming, since listening in the car is by far the most common time to want to use the app.” – 4/5 in Play Store

Google and audible are great if u buy content from them. But they suck otherwise. The other "free apps" I tried were either glitchy or too full of ads. I like that this offers the option of a no-ad version. It has MORE FEATURES THAN ALL THE OTHER APPS. I think $1.99 is a fair price for something useful. It's Cheaper than a basic Starbucks.” – 5/5 in Play Store

Hailey Bay: “LOVE this app. My favorite audiobook player & most intuitive. Still waiting for the auto download for entire library of covers/info option. Also, I think it would be cool to see audiobooks in gridview (looking for a similar layout to moonreader does for our ebooks). These are totally just suggestions tho, that I would love to see, but definitely not complaints because this app is pretty amazing. It's so nice to have an app that is this fluid to use, and works so well. Thnx! ❤️” – 4/5 in Play Store

Cons Limited availability in certain regions, may require library card for access, potential for technical issues or content availability changes.

Comments and Reviews from users:

Sheryl Wayne: “Hoopla is my current favorite app for access to library books, etc. It offers greater variety of content. Still, it could use a couple of minor tweaks. It would be very helpful if on the book's page you would add an indication as to the category, especially if it is fiction vs non-fiction. I find this difficult to determine for some books without checking them out. Lastly, and this is more of a wish-list item, I would like to be able to add books to a future reading list.” – 5/5 in Play Store

Caligo: “Ever since finding out about this app from my local library branch, it has been my go-to for reading on the go. A number of books I was waiting to go on sale via Kindle became accessible through this app, saving me money and time. I like that you can request titles if they aren't readily available, and that you can track them. I also like the option to renew titles when they're close to 'expiring'. I recommend this app to everyone I know who reads on a semi-daily basis 🙂” – 5/5 in Play Store

I would always see the advertisements when I was online with other apps and decided to give it a try and I am very satisfied with the results and will use this app for my audio book reading. So far the content that I have listened to has been really good I wish that there were more options to receive points instead of payment options. Shelley Stapleton: “This is very enjoyable. I found myself sitting back and letting the narrators voice wash over me. Closing my eyes and visualizing the words spoken with this very pleasant voice. The only draw back I have to note is that it isn't free so now I have to wait to hear more...I did see that there are a few books to read for free, just not the title that drew me to the app.” – 4/5 in Play Store

Brittney Willeford: “I very much enjoy the app. I love the stories that are on it. I however don't like some of the coin prices of each chapter. Some of them seem a little too much for not a lot of time in a chapter. And after every purchase of a chapter it tries to set it up automatically to take your coins easier. Even whenever you switch the automatic off on all of your stories it still continues to do it.” – 3/5 in Play Store

brandi: “I've been using the app for about a month and have a pretty decent library going right now. I'm almost done with the book Begin Again and will immediately go into the next chapters for Alpha Asher. bonus points are good and get more daily check points with this app then I do with others so well worth it. UPDATE. have been in the app for over a year now and have finished a lot of books. the point system has changed some and sometimes it's harder to get as many bonus points but still worth it!” – 5/5 in Play Store

annette robbins: “It's a pretty cool app. I enjoy being able to listen to a book, my eyesight is failing so reading can become difficult. My biggest complaint is when the book has a single voice talent. It bothers me to hear a man or a woman trying to speak as the other. Also some of the voice people are pretty bad. No inflection, just dull. Kinda kills the vibe of a book. Fortunately I haven't come across too many like that but they are there. I listen to the first chapter or two before buying.” – 3/5 in Play Store

Becky Wood: “Look, the stories are....fine, in some cases. The narration is distracting and if they don't have subtitles then you are trapped listening to terrible narrators, and some times sound effects terrible sound effects! Also, it would be nice if someone went through and fixed the wording. Like changing the word 'cut' to 'coat' because that is what they are talking about. "They took their cut off and put it on the back of the chair." As an example. Drives me up the wall.” – 3/5 in Play Store

Comments and Reviews from users:

Esapp: “Love this app! I've found new authors that I love. So far the only gripes that I have are that new content seems slow to come and there is very very little diversity in the authors they've featured. Which also translates into less diversity in the stories that are told. Other than that, I'm very pleased with the user friendliness, audio quality, and content. UPDATE: I've introduced this app to three other people and they are worse than me. Neither of us can stop listening; Even at work!” – 5/5 in Play Store

Cindy Probst: “I love this app!!!! I was fortunate enough to sign on when they were offering a free 6 month preview. No commercials or yucky interruptions to annoy me = FABULOUS!!!!!! I recently had a small issue and emailed support. I have to admit, they were quick to answer my questions and fix my problems (Like within an hour!!). They were super easy to talk to and didn't put me off like so many other's have. So if you haven't tried this app and you enjoy listening to your books, try this app!!” – 5/5 in Play Store

Comments and Reviews from users:

Joseph Goh: “While Libro.fm the store/service is great, the app is lacking in features. 1) There's no option to stream your books, nor can you download audiobook files to your external SD card. You can still manually download them from a browser, but otherwise you'll need some extra storage. 2) Books don't seem to be navigable by chapter and do not have a table of contents, just a list of numbered tracks. 3) Little things, like no app-wide dark mode and no store access from within the app.” – 3/5 in Play Store

Amanda Wobbema: “Edited review This is probably my favorite audio app at this point, it has resolved the issues I had with it before& keeps me out of Amazon ecosystem and supporting indie bookstores 2019 review: really want to love this app, and i would. it's sleek, clean and easy to navigate the books. but i have so much trouble with the how hard it is to use from my lock screen and also lack of Bluetooth headset control makes it nearly unusable everywhere but my car.” – 4/5 in Play Store
